Sorry for the trouble. It is tight-fitting as it needs to seal out the elements.
We recommend holding the remote in one hand buttons up. Hold it near the top near the “on” and “off” buttons. Tap it lightly on the bottom above the battery cover and the weight of the batteries combined with the tapping should force the cover open. Hope this is helpful. Thanks!

Generally speaking, if you use the pre-programmed Sony codes on a universal remote control, they will work with SunBrite TVs, or if pre-programmed SunBriteTV codes are listed, you can of course use those as well! There should be instructions included with the remote you purchased. Many universal remotes are not weatherproof, so be careful not to leave it outside in outdoor conditions if it’s not designed for outdoor use. Hope this is helpful. Thanks!

On the rear of the remote, you'll find a cover with 3 small phillips head screws. Remove the screws with a small phillips head screwdriver, then you can remove the cover and access the batteries. Thanks!

To change the batteries, the 3 small phillips head screws in the rear of the remove need to be removed (careful not to loose them!). Then, the two AAA batteries can be accessed and replaced. Thanks for your question!
